About Summyjee

A rice house built on one habit: measure everything.

Summyjee is the rice arm of Sofia Springs. Same family, same rule — publish the specification, then meet it.

Where the grain comes from

Pakistan's basmati belt runs across central Punjab — Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot. Silt-heavy soil, canal irrigation and cool nights at the grain-filling stage are what give the region its aroma. It is a small strip of land with a global reputation, and almost every long-grain variety we sell begins there.

Our everyday grades — PK-386 and IRRI-6 — come from Sindh and lower Punjab, where the yield is higher and the price is honest.

We buy paddy after harvest, mill it, and then hold the premium basmati in storage for a full season before it is packed. Ageing is the expensive part of this business and the part most sellers quietly skip.

From paddy to your sack

Procurement

Paddy bought by variety and lot, never blended at source.

Drying & storage

Brought down below 13% moisture, then held twelve months for premium grades.

Milling & polishing

Dehusked, whitened and polished to grade. Brown grades skip the whitening.

Grading & sortex

Length-graded and colour-sorted; broken grain pulled out and sold separately as Tukra.

Packing

Sealed in 1kg, 5kg, 25kg and 40kg with the lot number and mill date printed on.

Quality control

What we check on every lot

Average grain length

Measured on a graded sample, not a hand-picked grain.

Cooked elongation

A test cook from each lot; the result is what we print.

Moisture

Meter-tested at intake and again before packing.

Broken & foreign matter

Sortex pass plus a manual check for chalky and damaged grain.

Lot number and mill date are printed on every sack. Quote it to us and we can tell you exactly which batch you're cooking.

The Sofia Springs connection

Sofia Springs began with water drawn from the Bara deep wells outside Peshawar — a product where purity is either verifiable or it's just a story. Summyjee applies the same test to rice. If a claim can't be measured and printed on the pack, we don't make it.

Both brands ship from the same Peshawar operation, which is why a household can put water and rice on one delivery.
