Common questions

Is the rice actually aged, or is that just on the label?

Premium basmati grades are held a minimum of twelve months after harvest before packing. The mill date and lot number are printed on every sack — quote them and we'll tell you the exact batch.

Why do your prices change?

Rice is a commodity and paddy rates move every season. The figures on this site are indicative. We confirm the rate for the day before your order is dispatched.

Can I get a sample before a bulk order?

Yes. For enquiries above 500kg a month we send a 1kg sample of up to two varieties at no charge inside Peshawar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Do you deliver outside Peshawar?

Yes — next-day to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, 2–4 working days by courier nationwide. Freight is quoted before dispatch.

What's the difference between sella and white basmati?

Sella is parboiled in the husk before milling, which makes the grain firmer and almost impossible to break in a large pot. White basmati is softer and more fragrant. Caterers usually pick sella; homes usually pick white.

Is Summyjee the same company as Sofia Springs?

Yes. Summyjee is the rice brand of Sofia Springs, run from the same Peshawar operation, so water and rice can ship on one delivery.
